Pair of 1964 Armchairs by New Style Upholstery
A beautifully preserved pair of armchairs manufactured in 1964 by New Style Upholstery, inspired by Adrian Pearsall’s iconic Gondola series. These chairs capture the sculptural elegance of mid-century Australian design, compact yet commanding, with angular arms, timber insets and tapered legs that give them a poised, architectural presence.
The original gold vinyl is in remarkable condition, a rare survivor from the era, and has been thoroughly cleaned and nourished to maintain its soft lustre and integrity. The exposed timber detailing has been lightly refreshed to celebrate its craftsmanship and natural grain. One chair shows a small blemish in the vinyl, as photographed.
Sold as a pair with a matching 1964 Gondola settee available separately.
