Clausen & Son Teak Credenza

An impressive Danish credenza by Clausen & Son, featuring the maker’s distinctive bowtie handles.

I chose this piece for its elegant proportions. It is long, tall and clean-lined, with beautifully figured teak, particularly across the top. The narrow sliding doors keep the profile streamlined, with four central drawers providing generous storage. The top drawer retains its original felt lining.

Inside, the shelves are removable and adjustable, making it a practical piece for storing vinyl, books, glassware or taller bottles. There are two small cable cut-outs to the rear, one on each side. We have retained the original timber pieces and can glue these back into place if the cut-outs aren’t required.

The credenza is in incredible vintage condition. We have gently cleaned and polished the existing finish, preserving its rich original patina. There are a few small scratches to one end which we have carefully minimised, but otherwise it presents beautifully.

We don’t come across Danish pieces of this scale and quality very often. A striking and highly functional piece of mid-century design, and a rare find here in Australia.
