A rare and striking example of Hans J. Wegner’s GE-40 sofa, crafted in solid smoked oak with refined detailing. Designed for Getama, Denmark, this piece embodies Wegner’s mastery of form and function. Upholstered armrests enhance both comfort and aesthetic appeal, while a contrasting seat and back amplify the sofa’s bold architectural lines. The sculptural oak frame remains a focal point, beautifully contrasted by Raf Simons-designed ‘Atom’ upholstery for Kvadrat, with Mokum upholstered seat cushions and armrests. All cushions are sprung. This piece blends seamlessly in both modern and mid century interiors. Expertly restored, the oak frame has been sanded and finished in hard wax oil, with a newly webbed base for lasting support.
